How long is the soccer season? Top
The soccer season will begin after the long weekend of May and will continue through until middle of August.
Does Sudburnia have play-offs? Top
Sudburnia soccer does not have play-offs anymore, it is all considered regular season play. Although, youth divisions (ages 11-18) will have a year end tournament. Mini field divisions will get a participation trophy instead of having a tournament.
What is the proper equipment during game play? Top
* Jerseys , Socks and shorts will be provided by Sudburnia soccer (can be kept at the ending of the year)
All players are required to have:
a) Shinguards: covered entirely by the stockings, must be made of a suitable material (rubber, plastic, or similar substances)
b) Soccer shoes (cleats), although normal shoes may be worn, it is preferable to have a pair of soccer cleats
-Sunglasses -Hats (only the goalkeeper is aloud to wear a hat) -Jewellery (absolutely none with the exception of a medical alert tag - taping jewellery is not acceptable)
*Prescription glasses must be tied
How do game sheets work? Top
Gamesheets shall be the responsibility of the winning team or the “HOME” team in the case of a tie to deliver a copy of the game sheet to the Sudburnia clubhouse. The sheets must be turned in within 48 HOURS of the game.
What is the duration of the game (per division)? Top
5 / 6 four (4) equal ten (10) minute quarters
7 four (4) equal twelve (12) minute quarters
The quarter time intervals shall be two (2) minutes.
8 / 9 & under / 10 & under two (2) 25 minute halves
All other divisions two (2) 40 minute halves
As of August 1st of each year all full sized field games will be cut down to two 30 minute halves, due to light issues.
The half time intervals shall be five (5) minutes.
What is the rule on game cancellations? Top
All matches shall be played as scheduled except:
If the postponement is authorized by the Convenor.
b) If the referee deems postponement necessary due to bad weather or ground conditions.
c) If the scheduled referee does not appear and if a substitute referee acceptable to both coaches is not available.
What is the minimum amount of players needed to start a game? Top
An official game shall not be played with less than six (6) (in case of default) players (one of whom shall be the goalkeeper) per team.
Three-quarter size field:
An official game shall not be played with less than six (6) (in case of default) players (one of whom shall be the goalkeeper) per game.
An official game shall not be played with less than seven (7) players (one of whom shall be the goalkeeper) per team.
Does the “FAIR PLAY” rule apply? Top
The rule of “FAIR PLAY” will be enforced. That is, if a team can only field nine (9) players then both teams will play with nine (9)players, etc.
Penalty shots? Top
There are NO penalty shots for the 4 Development, 5, 6, and 7 Divisions.
What are the ball sizes to be used? Top
4 Development – 7 - Size 3
8 - 10 & under - Size 4
12 & under – 18 & under - Size 5
Are call-ups allowed? Top
Call ups will be allowed under the following rules:
The coach MUST ask both the convenors of his/her division and the convenor of the next lower division (or the Club Administrator if convenors are unavailable) to invite as many as three (3) players per game. If you field eleven (11) players per game, the maximum number of players on the game sheet cannot be more than fourteen (14) players. If you field nine (9) players per game, the maximum number of players on the game sheet cannot be more than twelve (12) players.
Any coach that uses players without prior consent of the convenors or the Club Administrator WILL FORFEIT any game in which these players were used. The coach will be subject to discipline.
The convenors (and the club administrator) shall keep a record of each player's call-ups and shall not allow more than three (3) call-ups per player per season.
Players from another league or club shall not be allowed to play within Sudburnia.
How do standings work? Top
• League standings shall be determined as follows:
Three (3) points for a win; Two (2) points for a tie; One (1) point for a loss; and Zero (0) points for a default
• FIRST PLACE
In the event two (2) teams are tied for first place, the first place position will be decided on the basis of:
a) Most games won in the league by tied teams.
b) Results of games played in league by the tied teams.
c) Goals for minus goals against which is goal difference.
d) Most goals scored in league by the tied teams.
In the event the teams are still tied, a flip of the coin will be used to decide their individual standing. First team alphabetically calls the toss.
Is it possible to protest a game? Top
Protests of regular game results must be submitted in writing, to the field house on Kennedy Street within 48 hours of the game in question being completed. Protests will be considered for rule infractions only, and the violated rule must be clearly identified in the protest.
